12 Hour Paediatric first aid & Epi-Pen  COUrse

This 12-Hour  paediatric first aid course is designed for those individuals who look after children and infants, including settings such as  day nurseries, private nursery schools, pre-schools, before and after school clubs for children in the early years age group, childminders, carers of children at home and those working in local authority schools.

The paediatric first aid course meets the Ofsted Early Years and Childcare Register requirements for CSSIW

Who should attend?

 

This course is for people working with young children and those working towards an Early Years educator qualification.

​

What DOES THE COURSE COVER?

​

Understand the role and responsibilities of the paediatric first aider.

Be able to assess an emergency situation safely.

Be able to provide first aid for an infant and a child:

​

Be able to assess an emergency situation and prioritise what action to take.

• Help a baby or child who is unresponsive and breathing normally.

• Help a baby or child who is unresponsive and not breathing normally.

• Help a baby or child who is having a seizure.

• Help a baby or child who is choking. • Help a baby or child who is bleeding.

• Help a baby or child who is suffering from shock caused by severe blood loss (Hypovolemic shock)

Help a baby or child who is suffering from anaphylactic shock.

• Help a baby or child who has had an electric shock.

• Help a baby or child who has burns or scalds.

• Help a baby or child who has a suspected fracture.

• Help a baby or child with head, neck or back injuries.

• Help a baby or child who is suspected of being poisoned.

• Help a baby or child with a foreign body in eyes, ears or nose

• Help a baby or child with an eye injury.

• Help a baby or child with a bite or sting.

• Help a baby or child who is suffering from the effects of extreme heat or cold.

• Help a baby or child having: a diabetic emergency; an asthma attack; an allergic reaction; meningitis; and/or febrile convulsions.

• Understand the role and responsibilities of the paediatric first aider (including appropriate contents of a first aid box and the need

    for recording accidents and incidents).

Understand how to complete records relating to illnesses, injuries and emergencies.

​

Course duration

 

12-Hours

This is 12 contact training hours excluding breaks.

​

Assessment and certification

 

Practical skills are assessed by continuous observation by the trainer and there is a written assessment paper to check understanding.

​

Learners need a basic command of English

 

Whilst we are often able to provide support to people who for example do not have English as a first language, our ability to do so is limited by the time available and the number of people who require assistance, although we may be able to make special arrangements if requested in advance. Please contact us in advance if you need any guidance.

Cost

​

Individual ciurse fee - £100.00 per person 

​

Course for up to 12 candidates - £800.00 (approx £66.66 per person for 12 candidates)

​

This course is delivered by Advanced Paramedic Practitioners.
